Low Back Pain: Is often related to less than optimal pelvic tilt. Is your “belt” relatively parallel to the floor, or does it slope either down or up?

Orthopedic/Medical Massage usually helps your pelvis gradually return to a more optimum position.

Arm and/or hand tingles: Some of the nerve and blood vessels that go to the wrist and hand pass through and under muscles in the neck and upper shoulder area. Carpel Tunnel like symptoms often respond well to massage. A lot of people with this complaint have the “head forward” posture.

Sciatica Pain, numbness or tingling in legs and or feet. True sciatica happens when the sciatic nerve is pinched; usually where it emerges from

Poor postuere is often the source for chronic pain.

These symptoms usually respond well to Medical Massage

Migraine headache: There can be many causes for headache or migraine headache. Dehydration is close to the top of the list. Are you drinking enough water? Coffee, tea, soda pop, and other alcoholic, sugary, caffeinated or artificially sweetened beverages do not  count as water. In fact, most of the above are diuretics and contribute to dehydration and  headache.

After hydration, tight neck muscles are a very common cause of headache.

Neck and Shoulder Pain: We frequently hear “ I hold tension in my neck and shoulders”. In almost every case, a brief posture examination (look at the chart) discloses that the head is forward on the shoulders, and the shoulders are rounded. In general, they walk with either “pigeon  toes” or “duck feet”.

the lumbar vertebrae. It then  passes under (sometimes through) one of the muscles in the glut area which can squeeze the nerve causing sciatica like symptoms. Look at your feet, are they pointed straight ahead when you walk or are they turned either in or out? Straight ahead is better.

There is a great web site at http://www.pressurepointer.com/SCM_trigger_points.htm that is worth looking at. This site showcases a device for working  on your own trigger points. I use a similar device on myself. If for whatever reason regular professional massage therapy is not an option and you have chronic pain, look at their website and purchase this or some similar self massage / trigger point tool. I use a TheraCane. You can also use a tennis ball pressed between you and the wall or floor.

Body Alignment & Pain: Chronic pain is frequently reflected in poor posture and  muscle imbalances. Muscle imbalance may be the result of an acute injury or come from years of poor functional movement mechanics.

Morton’s Toe: There may be a relationship between your feet and pain felt in other parts of your body. Look at your feet when you walk. Are they pointed straight ahead, or do they turn either out or in? I have noticed that almost everyone with pain issues walk with their feet turned. You can Google Morton’s Toe or go to www.toeclinic.com for more information. The website at  http://www.triggerpointbook.com/mortons.htm also has great information. and offers an inexpensive solution.
